Our Challenge

In 2014, prior to working with RainTree, Kono USA began it’s franchising campaign. In the first year or so, Kono founders David Ragosa and Carlo Ruggiero invested heavily and were able to recruit three franchisees. They set the goals much higher, with the notion of increasing franchise sales to a rate of 30+ units a year.

For this type of exponential growth, they knew they would need some professional help.

Our Tactics

Web Design & Marketing

The primary goal for any new website build at RainTree is to drastically increase user and or lead conversions. By creating new brand assets and visuals and carefully incorporating the new franchise photography and videography, we create a much better chance of emotionally engaging the user.

We then increased the content of the franchise site, increasing it from 5 pages to 20 pages of content, with a focus on brand storytelling. And finally, the site is SEO optimized and put through a User Experience (UX) test phase that ensures an increase in conversions.

Website Lead Conversions were increased from 2.1% to 6.8%

Lead Generation

Before RainTree invests in any lead generation channel, our focus is on determining the ideal franchise owner, and building a buyer persona to match. The persona’s incorporate ideal demographics, psychographics, media consumption behavior, and a long list of other particulars to help us ensure all marketing investments are wisely spent.

For Kono USA, we have built and continue to manage campaigns for portal advertising, social media advertising, retargeting, geo-targeted e-blasts, trade-shows, SEO and a variety of other channels to ensure we continue to attract qualified franchise buyers.

Public Relations

Pizza in a cone – what a wonderful idea, so relevant to the busy, fast-paced American consumer! RainTree knew that the best way to increase brand awareness was to help drive a successful PR campaign. RainTree teamed up with Fishman PR to ensure that the right messaging and angles were being utilized, and the right media outlets were being contacted.

Most Notably, the Kono Pizza franchise was featured on an Insider Food facebook post, and it went truly viral:

Sales

With our Sales Experts at the helm, Kono USA has hit exponential growth in 2016. Full disclosure, however; In 2015, we awarded 9 franchise units. Sometimes it takes 6 months or more to truly figure out the correct buyer personas, marketing messaging and sales strategies. But, we always seem to figure it out.

In 2016, we have already awarded 50 units at the end of Q3 – a significant increase from the years prior to the RainTree partnership. Kono USA is starting to find it’s stride and is on track for very big things!
